Like adults, kids need exercise. Most children need
at least an hour of physical activity every day. Regular
exercise helps children
Feel less stressed
Feel better about themselves
Feel more ready to learn in school
Keep a healthy weight
Build and keep healthy bones, muscles and joints
Sleep better at night
As kids spend more time watching TV, they spend less
time running and playing. Parents should limit TV, video
game and computer time. Parents can set a good example
by being active themselves. Exercising together can
be fun for everyone. Competitive sports can help kids
stay fit. Walking or biking to school, dancing, bowling
and yoga are some other ways for kids to get exercise.

Exercise is essential for people with arthritis.
As for anyone, exercise:
increases energy levels
helps develop a better sleep pattern
helps with weight control
maintains a healthy heart
increases bone and muscle strength
decreases depression and fatigue
serves to improve self-esteem and self-confidence
For people with arthritis, exercise
is especially advantageous in regard to the joints.
Moving the joints daily helps to keep them fully mobile.
Added joint support is achieved by strengthening the
surrounding muscles. Also, joint movement transports
nutrients and waste products to and from the cartilage,
the material which protects the ends of the bones. If
you have Arthritis, you should discuss any exercise
activity with your doctor before beginning an Exercise
Program.

Eat your Fruit and Vegetables
Studies have shown that fruit and vegetables offers
one the ultimate in disease protection. Studies have
suggested you should eat 7 to 10 servings of produce
a day to keep your immune system healthy. Unfortunately,
most of us don’t eat nearly enough fruits and
vegetables every day. When we do, they may be over processed,
overcooked, or lack the nutrition it should be providing.
If you find that you are having a difficult time consuming
enough fruits and vegetables, you may want to consider
taking Juice Plus+®, which provides whole food based
nutrition. For more information, click on the link for
Juice Plus+® or E-mail for more information.
Eat More Fiber-Rich Whole Grains
By eating three to four servings of whole grains a day,
it will boost your energy and heart health. It will
also help you feel full for a longer period of time,
so you will not overeat. Check the ingredients to make
sure you are getting whole grains. Check the fiber and
look for high fiber, low sugar items. The recommended
daily fiber intake is 25 to 35 mg per day.
Eat The Right Fats
Get rid of the Trans Fat. So what is Trans Fat? Basically,
trans fat is made when manufacturers add hydrogen to
vegetable oil--a process called hydrogenation. Hydrogenation
increases the shelf life and flavor stability of foods
containing these fats.
Trans fat can be found in vegetable shortenings, some
margarines, crackers, cookies, snack foods, and other
foods made with or fried in partially hydrogenated oils.
Unlike other fats, the majority of Trans fat is formed
when food manufacturers turn liquid oils into solid
fats like shortening and hard margarine. A small amount
of Trans fat is found naturally, primarily in some animal-based
foods.
Trans fat, like saturated fat and dietary cholesterol,
raises the LDL cholesterol that increases your risk
for CHD. (Coronary Heart Disease) Americans consume
on average 4 to 5 times as much saturated fat as Trans
fat in their diets
Make an effort to consume more monounsaturated fats
such as flaxseed and olive oils which pack more heart
healthy benefits than other oils. This will help reduce
the risk of heart disease, diabetes and eye disorders.
It will enhance bone health and help make your skin
more supple. |
