is a complete package, which along with the Body
includes the Mind and Spirit. True fitness comes
from within. One must have a balanced life which

AYURVEDA
Ayurveda means to make healthy
choices in your daily life. It derives from
the Sanskrit words “ayus” and “veda” and
translates as “science of life”. These
choices can be simple. Choosing an apple over a
donut, getting that extra sleep your body needs,
or just taking time to relax out of your busy schedule.
Ayurveda is BALANCE in health. Think of it as a
table which has four legs and one leg is missing.
This is how your body is when it is out of balance.
Ayurveda has been enthusiastically embraced by
peoples of all cultures over the last few decades,
particularly those in the West. It’s holistic
and traditional use has vaulted it to one of the
most respected and utilized alternative forms of
healthcare in the world. According to Ayurveda,
health is a process that requires each individual
to participate on a continual basis. Achieving
balance on all levels is the true measure of vibrant
health which will occur according to the needs
of each individual.
Our Doshas make us all different. Known as Vata,
Pitta and Kapha, the three Doshas are biological
energies found throughout the human body and mind.
They govern all the physical and mental process
and provide us each with an individual blueprint
for health and well being.
According to ancient Ayurvedic texts, true health
must encompass the Body, Mind and Spirit, or the
physical, mental and spiritual aspects of well-being.
In addition to these three areas of health, balanced
emotional health is also considered important for
overall vitality. By examining how an herb or fruit
affects the physiology of the body, Ayurveda outlines
how different botanicals can affect the mind, the
emotions, the subtle energies of the body and ultimately
the spirit. Moreover, Ayurveda teaches that each
areas of health is interdependent with the others.
The amalaki fruit (ah-muh-lah-kee)
is native to India, Nepal and surrounding regions.
Also know as “amla” and Indian gooseberry” the
fruits taste has sour and sweet qualities and has
been a food and medicinal staple in native cultures
for thousands of years. Amalaki is called “The
Great Rejuvenator” and “The Fruit of
Immortality”. It is found in ancient medical
tests and Indian scripture and has been used by
Ayurvedic healers for thousands of years.

REFLEXOLOGY
Reflexology is a science and art which deals with
the principle that there are reflex points in the
ears, hands and especially the feet which correspond
to every gland, organ and part of the body. By
skillful stimulation of these areas and points
with hand, finger and thumb techniques the body
systems are facilitated to greater balance. Reflexology
is a method for activating the healing powers of
the body. From ancient tests, illustrations and
artifacts, it is known that the early Chinese,
Japanese, Indians Russians and Egyptians worked
on the feet to promote good health. As one of the

Reiki (ray-dey) is Japanese
technique for stress reduction and relaxation
that promote healing. It was discovered by
Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 1900’s. Reiki is administered by “laying
on hands” and techniques such as this have
been practiced for thousands of years. Reiki is
a very simple yet powerful technique. The word “Rei” means
universal and the work “Ki” is life
energy. It is also known as the vital life force
or the universal life force. If your life energy
is low or there is a restriction to the flow of
your energy you are more vulnerable to illness.
When your life energy is high, you are less likely
to get sick. Life energy plays an important role
in everything we do. It animates the body and has
higher levels of expression. Ki is also the primary
energy of our emotions, thoughts and spiritual

training and mental development and in meditative
breathing exercises.
